The State Archives of the Security Service of Ukraine has published the previously classified KGB<\/a> archives on the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In particular, the documents contain the earliest report<\/a> on the accident from the then director of the nuclear power plant, Viktor Bryukhanov.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The report contains the negotiations of the Chernobyl NPP employees at the time of the accident. Also, documents were published on the evacuation of almost 45 thousand residents of the city of Pripyat and neighboring settlements.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is noted that judging by the published documents, accidents occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant until April 26, 1986.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So, in 1982, a serious release of radioactive substances occurred at the first power unit of the station.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In 1984, accidents were recorded at power units 3 and 4.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In 1983, the leadership of the USSR<\/a> received a report that the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is one of the most dangerous facilities in the country since there are no adequate safety measures at the plant.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On July 8, 1986, the KGB classified all the details<\/a> of the accident at the station.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is also reported that in October 1987, French journalist Jean Pierre Vaudon attempted to export soil and water samples taken in the territory of Pripyat.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, the KGB conducted and reported on a successful operation to replace the samples with radioactive neutral ones.<\/p>\n
