In Berdychiv, the director, foreman, and baker of the ZhEK, which maintains a house where 8 people died from carbon monoxide poisoning<\/a>, is on trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tragedy occurred in March 2018 in one of the apartments of the old house. As many as 8 human bodies were taken out of the two-room apartment: six adults and two children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the dead was a former neighbor of the owners, who came to visit, and their son’s beloved girl. The youngest victim was only one year old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stove was accused of forging documents. The act of inspection <\/a>of heating in the apartment, which became a mass grave, was drawn up a month after the inspection. There were no violations. But experts have found a number and believe that the employee of ZhEK actually didn’t check anything. Later it turned out that the stove checked the draft in the chimney, but in an old-fashioned way: he attached a plain piece of paper and saw if it was blowing, although he had to do it with a special device. Only the director of the ZhEK did not extradite him because she did not make a timely scheduled verification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ZhEK director Halyna Khanina worked in the position for a long time after the tragedy. She recently resigned, allegedly due to ill health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lawyers, judging by the questions to witnesses<\/a>, want to shift the blame on the victims themselves. Like, apartment owners violated rules of operation of furnace heating. These violations were indeed recorded by experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
