Thousands of people have fled their homes on the Greek island of Evia due to uncontrolled forest fires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine Gate – August 08, 2021 \u2013 Video<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Fires on Evia, a large island east of the capital, quickly spread to several fronts, burning thousands of hectares of forest and forcing dozens of villages to be evacuated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Greece has deployed an army to help fight the fires. France, Egypt, Switzerland, and Spain <\/a>have sent aid, including fire planes. Ukraine has also sent firefighters to help Greece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to authorities, more than 570 firefighters are fighting the fire in Evia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Since Tuesday, the Coast Guard has evacuated more than 2,000 people, including many elderly residents, from various parts of the island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Forest fires broke out in many parts of the country during the week’s heat<\/a>, the worst in three decades in Greece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All over the country, forest lands were burned, dozens of houses and businesses were destroyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
