Ukraine Gate \u2013 August 22, 2021 \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukrgate.com\/eng\/?cat=13\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">International News<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the European Union tries to decide what to do with the Afghans, Kurz said Austria would not accept more refugees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I am against us taking more people voluntarily now, and this will not happen during my tenure as chancellor,&#8221; Kurz said. &#8220;I do not think we should accept more people. On the contrary.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kurz went on to say, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukrgate.com\/eng\/?p=16686\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"16686\">Austria <\/a>has made a disproportionate contribution,&#8221; he added, referring to a large number of Afghan refugees and asylum seekers already in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Kurtz, people fleeing Afghanistan should remain in the region, adding that neighboring Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have accepted only 14,000 and 13,000 Afghan refugees, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the United Nations High Commissioner for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukrgate.com\/eng\/?p=17864\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"17864\">Refugees<\/a>, there are more than 40,000 Afghan refugees in Austria, the second largest community in Europe after Germany, with 148,000 refugees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the way, the population of Austria is nine times smaller than in Germany.
