Thanks to the intervention of the firefighters, the fire was brought under control and cooling work was underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From late July to mid-August, Turkey suffered from extensive forest fires. Ukraine was one of the first countries to respond to the request for help – it sent planes and helicopters to Turkey to fight forest fires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In total, about 160,000 hectares of forest were destroyed during forest fires this year. The fires damaged 30,000 hectares of forests in Manavgat, 12,600 hectares in Bodrum, 8,000 hectares in Marmaris and 6,500 hectares around Guselbaga in Antalya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Turkey’s Defense Ministry has\u00a0released images of\u00a0areas\u00a0destroyed by forest fires\u00a0in the south and southwest of the country, taken from space.\u00a0According to police, some of the forest fires may have occurred as a result of arson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
