The two largest US phone companies AT&T and Verizon have agreed in response to a request from the US government to postpone the deployment of 5G services this week, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the day before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The FAA thanks AT&T and Verizon for agreeing to the voluntary deferral and for their proposed risk mitigation measures,” the agency said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the agency, wireless companies have also proposed a number of risk reduction measures comparable to those used in Europe. “We believe this could significantly reduce air traffic disruptions,” the FAA added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“These additional mitigation measures will be in place for six months near 50 airports that are considered the most important for the US aviation sector,” the US Aviation Agency added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttidge and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have previously made a request due to concerns about flight safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The world’s largest aircraft manufacturers, Airbus and Boeing, have warned that 5G wireless signals in the C-band could interfere with the aircraft’s sensitive electronics and interfere with flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AT&T and Verizon initially rejected the request before agreeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
