The drone weighs 1.8 g. It is 25 times lighter than other radio-powered micro-vehicles developed earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“One of the key features of our work is the highly efficient operation of the swings, which is achieved through the use of a powerful single-crystal piezoelectric material, with the two wings facing each other like clapping hands. This design provides a good balance of power and weight and ensures the efficiency of flight, as in living insects, “- said one of the developers of the device Takashi Ozaki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Scientists have conducted many experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of the design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“During the tests, we came to the conclusion that not only flying work, but also various other devices that require high power at a small size, can be implemented without batteries,” – added Ozaki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
