The Lithuanian Seimas has adopted a resolution calling on the European Union to immediately grant Ukraine candidate status and open membership talks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Ukraine has been seeking membership in the European Union for more than ten years, Ukraine and the EU have been linked by the Association Agreement for the past five years; thus, the country’s application for membership in the European Union is the result of its persistent commitment to European integration.” said in the resolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Lithuanian Seimas reaffirmed its readiness to provide comprehensive assistance to Ukraine in its quest for EU membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“123 members of the Lithuanian Seimas unanimously voted in favor of the resolution in support of Ukraine’s membership in the European Union,” the statement reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 28, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi submitted an official application for EU membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine’s application for EU membership should be considered separately from the documents submitted by Georgia and Moldova.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
