In response to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Minister Sean Fraser has announced the launch of a Canadian-Ukrainian emergency travel permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canada has announced CUAET, an accelerated temporary residence route for Ukrainians seeking safe haven in Canada while the country is at war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With CUAET, Ukrainians and their immediate family members of any nationality can stay in Canada as temporary residents for up to 3 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Applicants traveling abroad must apply online for a visa to Canada and provide their biometric data.
The needy are invited to apply for a 3-year open work permit at the same time as applying for a visa. This permit will allow them to work in Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under this special program, many of the usual requirements for a regular visa or work permit have been waived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Elementary and high school students can register and start attending school as soon as they arrive in Canada, and anyone wishing to study at a higher level can apply for a permit to study once in Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ukrainian workers, students and guests and their families already in Canada will also benefit from these activities.
They can apply for an extension of their visitor status or work permit for 3 years, apply for a new work or study permit, or renew their existing permit. The IRCC will waive all fees for applying for a work or study permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To alleviate the burden on applicants, the IRCC waives all fees for applications to these programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
