NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expects Alliance leaders to agree on March 24 to “strengthen NATO’s position” by deploying four new battle groups on the Alliance’s eastern flank. He stated this at today’s briefing .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I expect NATO leaders to agree to strengthen NATO’s position in all areas, significantly strengthening our forces in the eastern part of the Alliance – on land, in the air and at sea. The first step is to deploy four new NATO battlegroups – in Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania. and Slovakia, “Stoltenberg said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, along with the existing forces in the Baltic States and Poland, this means that the Alliance will have 8 multinational NATO battle groups on the entire eastern flank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
