KYIV.\u00a0UkraineGate , 21 .June .2022 | Political News.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Russia’s Foreign Ministry will summon the European Union’s ambassador to Moscow, Marcus Ederer, because Lithuania has banned the transit of sanctioned goods through Kaliningrad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Quote<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n “As far as I know, tomorrow Marcus Ederer, the European Union’s ambassador to Russia, will be summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (…) and will be informed of the relevant conditions,” said Kaliningrad Governor Anton Alikhanov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There was no official confirmation from the Russian Foreign Ministry about the call, Reuters reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Context<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n As part of EU sanctions, Vilnius has banned the transit of goods through Lithuania to and from Russian Kaliningrad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The chairman of the commission of the Federation Council for the Protection of Sovereignty Andriy Klimov said earlier that the EU needs to correct the situation with the blockade of Kaliningrad, otherwise Russia will be “free hand” to resolve the issue of transit by any means.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to him, this is “direct aggression, forcing self-defense.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba supported Lithuania’s position on stopping freight transit to Kaliningrad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Later, the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak called on Western countries not to make concessions to Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Source: Ukrgate<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Moscow will summon the EU ambassador due to transit restrictions imposed by Lithuania .
