July . 2022 | World News.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">India has banned some single-use plastic products as part of a federal plan to phase out plastic in the country of nearly 1.4 billion people.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Details<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the first phase, 19 plastic items were identified that are not very useful, but have a high potential to become garbage and prohibit their production, import, storage, distribution or sale.\u00a0These items range from plastic cups and straws to popsicle sticks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some single-use plastic bags will also be phased out and replaced with more environmentally friendly ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ban does not apply to bottles of water or soda or bags of chips.&nbsp;But the federal government has set goals for manufacturers&#8217; responsibility for recycling or disposing of them after use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plastic manufacturers asked the government to delay the ban, citing inflation and possible job losses, but the government refused, citing environmental concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Source<\/strong>:\u00a0<strong>Ukrgate<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A sign at an Indian store that has switched to using eco-friendly bags in Hyderabad .
