July . 2022 | World News.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Australia&#8217;s new government is putting climate at the top of its agenda.\u00a0This month, for the first time, after the elections on May 21, the Parliament will consider a draft law on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the production of electric vehicles.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Details<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A bill will be introduced to parliament on July 26 that would oblige Australia to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 43% by 2030, the country&#8217;s climate change and energy minister Chris Bowen said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another bill would eliminate import tariffs and taxes on electric cars, which are cheaper than the luxury car threshold of A$77,565 ($53,580).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just 1.5% of cars sold in Australia are electric or hybrid, and passenger cars account for almost 10% of the country&#8217;s emissions, the government has said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new centre-left Labor government expects electric vehicles to account for 89% of new car sales in Australia by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even the government fleet will be converted to 75% zero-emission vehicles, which will strengthen the market for used electric vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new government has already formally informed the United Nations of Australia&#8217;s more ambitious 2030 target than the previous Conservative administration led by the Liberal Party, a reduction of 26% to 28%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Source<\/strong>:\u00a0<strong>Ukrgate<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parliament House in Canberra, AustraliaSource: Wiki KYIV.\u00a0UkraineGate . 3 .
