July . 2022 | World News.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Two Russian planes have taken off from Bulgaria carrying Russian diplomats and their families amid a mass expulsion that has sparked a sharp rise in tensions between the countries.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Details<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n One high-ranking Russian diplomat told reporters at the airport in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, before departure, that he was among 70 Russian diplomatic employees who were declared “persona non grata”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The decision to expel Russians from Bulgaria was announced by Acting Prime Minister Kyril Petkov, who took a strong stance against Russia after it invaded Ukraine on February 24.
