UkraineGate . 23 .\u00a0August . 2022 | Society<\/strong> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">National Flag Day is celebrated in Ukraine every year on August 23,\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Details<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Previously, this day was celebrated only in Kyiv on July 24.&nbsp;It was on this day in 1990 that the blue-yellow flag was raised over Kyiv City Hall.&nbsp;Ukrainians were not sure that the Declaration on State Sovereignty would be adopted, but on July 16, 1990, it happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2009, changes were made to this decree, and an annual official flag-raising ceremony was established on August 23 throughout Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The adoption of the blue-yellow flag as the national flag took place with the proclamation of the Ukrainian People&#8217;s Republic (UNR).&nbsp;Then, in the history of Ukraine, there was a period of red &#8220;hammer and sickle&#8221;, and for blue and yellow they were sent to prisons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On August 23, 1991, a group of people&#8217;s deputies brought the blue-yellow Ukrainian flag into the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada, and on September 4, it was solemnly raised over the parliament building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Source<\/strong>:\u00a0<strong>Ukrgate<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KYIV.
