“In order to return it to the unified energy system of Ukraine, it is necessary to conduct an inspection and survey. Because it is not known what the Russians left behind and technologically crammed there. Because not only the reactor zone or the engine room is involved in the production of electricity at a nuclear plant, but also many auxiliary mechanisms. In addition, there were “arrivals” in the perimeter of the nuclear power plant. Therefore, I think that it is possible to return it quickly enough, but for this it is necessary to carry out a very meticulous inspection of the nuclear power units located at the ZNPP,” said Plachkov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expert predicted that there are three options for the return of Zaporizhzhya NPP. The first and most pessimistic, when the Russian military and employees of the “Rosatom”, leaving the station, will disable the equipment, which will then require a long time and significant financial costs for commercial operation. In addition, the Russian military can mine the territory of the station or blow up some objects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The second and positive option is when the Russians voluntarily leave the nuclear power plant, as happened at the time with the Chernobyl NPP. They occupied it, the blitzkrieg did not take place, and the so-called voluntary de-occupation and demilitarization of the NPP took place. And the most realistic option, in my opinion, is when our Armed Forces organize some kind of “cauldron”. Because liberating the Zaporizhzhya NPP even with high-precision artillery or high-precision MLRS is to expose the whole world to even greater danger,” said Plachkov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked whether the Russians could take out nuclear fuel and waste in an unknown direction, the expert said that it is unlikely. An IAEA mission is permanently stationed at the station. Its main task is to control the safety of the operation of the nuclear plant and the non-proliferation of nuclear material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“And it must be transported through the occupied territories where hostilities are taking place.\u00a0It is necessary to understand the fuel available at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, its technological structures, working conditions, etc.\u00a0But you can expect anything from the Russians.\u00a0And although the option is technically possible, I think it is unlikely,” the expert noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
