On January 20, the Government<\/a> adopted a bill strengthening the protection of Ukraine’s national economic interests during the spread of protectionist policies in the world and the existence<\/a> of emergencies in international relations. At the same time, the adopted amendments do not contradict the WTO agreements and international<\/a> agreements of Ukraine in the trade and economic<\/a> sphere.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Today, the whole world uses the principle of protectionism<\/a> – to protect its producers. In this perspective, we must also protect our producers<\/a> and exporters in the international trade arena, thereby increasing the competitiveness of the national economy, “commented the Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture<\/a> of Ukraine Igor Petrashko.<\/p>\n Thus, the draft Law proposes<\/a> to amend the Law of Ukraine “On Foreign Economic Activity”, which in particular:<\/p>\n introduce at the legislative level the procedure for protection of the rights<\/a> and interests of subjects of foreign economic activity of Ukraine during foreign states or other subjects of international law anti-dumping, anti-subsidy or special investigations<\/a> into imports of goods of Ukrainian origin and the procedure for protection of rights and interests of Ukraine agreements of Ukraine in the trade and economic sphere<\/a>;<\/p>\n provide for the granting<\/a> of the right of the Ministry of Economy to represent and self-represent the interests of the Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade in Courts;<\/p>\n differentiate the mechanism of application by Ukraine of measures<\/a> in response to internationally wrongful acts and \/ or hostile actions of a foreign state or other subject of international law against Ukraine separately from the application by Ukraine<\/a> of measures in response to discriminatory actions of a foreign state or other subject of international law against objects of foreign economic activity of Ukraine.<\/p>\n The draft law is aimed at achieving goal 5.2 “Export Support” of the Program of Activities<\/a> of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from 12.06.2020 \u2116471 and to implement paragraph 14 of the action plan for the implementation of the State Economic<\/a> Incentive Program: “Improvement of legislation to determine conditions for protection of national interests of Ukraine in the conditions of the strengthened protectionism<\/a> of other countries, and also in emergency situations (taking into account norms of GATT \/ WTO)”.<\/p>\n
