The head of the Ministry of Healthcare Maxim Stepanov<\/a> named the main reasons for the appearance of oncology among Ukrainians. He said that the department has developed a National Cancer Control Strategy until 2030 and the main goal is to reduce deaths from cancer.<\/p>\n As Stepanov said, a reduction in mortality<\/a> can only be achieved through a systematic approach. In the developed strategy, the primary goal is the development of specialized immunization and the popularization<\/a> of a healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n “A healthy lifestyle is very important, because in 25% of cases, oncology develops from smoking<\/a>, and in 20% – from being overweight,” the minister said.<\/p>\n The strategy also includes the following goals:<\/p>\n detection of oncology at an early stage;<\/p>\n development of palliative medicine<\/a>;<\/p>\n Psychological support for patients;<\/p>\n improvement of the cancer treatment system;<\/p>\n raising the professional level of doctors;<\/p>\n scientific research with further control of the result;<\/p>\n monitoring how patients receive care<\/p>\n As noted by Maxim Stepanov, in the coming days, the strategy will be completed and put up for discussion, and then it will be adopted by the corresponding order of the Cabinet<\/a>.<\/p>\n Maxim Stepanov called oncology the second cause on the list of deaths of Ukrainians. More than 80 thousand people become victims of cancer every year.<\/p>\n
