The EU Commission warns that red meat increases the risk of cancer

This is the so-called “farm to fork” strategy. Red meat includes beef, goat, lamb and pork.
Thus, the EU Commission recommends that Europeans switch to plant-based foods, allocating about 170 million euros to promote a greener food system.
“The general view is that red and processed meat should be reduced or eliminated from the daily diet to prevent the incidence of cancer. Instead, they should be free to consume sustainable plant products, ”the statement said.
The updated EU policy is also aimed at curbing climate change.

The World Health Organization, meanwhile, reports data linking red meat consumption to the development of colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer and prostate cancer. In many countries around the world, health authorities recommend limiting the consumption of meat products and red meat, as they are associated with an increased risk of death from heart disease, diabetes and other diseases.
