The harm of coffee to children was first discussed in the 1980s when several scientific studies showed that coffee lovers were more likely to develop osteoporosis as a result of calcium leaching from the body.
Based on the data, some scientists have suggested that if coffee can cause such health problems in adults, it means that coffee consumption by children can also affect the level of calcium in the bones, which can significantly affect the growth of the child.
Also, one of the possible reasons that caused a negative attitude to this drink is the consumption of coffee without milk. It is known that milk contains an important mineral for bones – calcium. And people who often drink coffee, respectively, drink less milk.
However, modern scientists, after conducting many studies, have not found scientifically proven facts that indicate the ability of caffeine to delay the growth and development of children. According to experts, genetic predisposition (about 16%) is primarily responsible for human growth.
Important for the further development of the skeletal system, and hence the growth of the child, is the number and severity of infectious diseases. It is known that some diseases can slow down the absorption of essential minerals by the child’s body, which will negatively affect bone growth.
