Ukrzaliznytsia resumes launching the Lviv-Uzhgorod train, canceled more than a year ago.
Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – April 14, 2021 – Transportation
“On April 16, launching the Lviv-Uzhhorod regional train № 829/830 on the Lviv Railway,” the company said.
As noted in UZ, canceled more than a year ago, the train was restored in order to “connect perhaps the most attractive cities and towns of Transcarpathia and the Carpathians for a safe spring vacation in the mountains without crowds.”
The train will depart from Uzhhorod at 5:13 daily, except Wednesday, arriving in Lviv at 10:59. The return flight from Lviv will depart daily, except Tuesday, at 16:37, arriving in the capital of Transcarpathia at 22:22.
The train will run with stops at the stations Mykolayiv-Dnistrovskyi, Stryy, Skole, Tukhlya, Slavsko, Lavochne, z.p. Oporets, Volovets, Svalyava, z.p. Carpathians, Mukachevo, Batyovo, Chop.
The fare will remain up to UAH 75, UZ promises.
Ukrzaliznytsia is temporarily reducing the number of launching passenger train flights to western Ukraine. The reason is “low demand”.
Railway fares have been raised in Ukraine since March. For example, the cost of a ticket from Kyiv to Lviv was to increase from UAH 190 to UAH 232, UZ reported earlier.
The company explained that it envisages in its financial plan for 2021 a gradual increase in passenger tariffs by 2% per month, starting from March 1, to “invest in improving the quality of services provided.”
Meanwhile, amid the pandemic, the number of train tickets sold is falling. According to the data on the website of UZ, in 2020 the decrease was 63.4% compared to 2019 – from 53.35 million tickets sold to 19.52 million. As of April 12, from the beginning of 2021, sold already 5 377 663 tickets.
