The Moldo Glacier in Denali National Park in Alaska is moving 50-100 times faster than normal. Last month, a pilot, who was flying over Denali Park, noticed an unusual movement of the mountain and took a picture of the unusual landscapes to send to a geologist friend.

And the National Park Service confirmed that the glacier is experiencing a so-called glacier increase or eruption. And according to experts, it is not all about climate change. Geological evidence indicates that in the past, a glacier was composed of sorghum approximately every 50 years.
According to Johnny Kingslake, assistant professor of environmental science at Columbia University, ice eruptions are “a really strange phenomenon.” And about 1% of the world’s glaciers, grouped into certain geographic regions, experience so-called sorghum – periodic periods when glaciers move much faster than normal (literally a millimeter per day), followed by a rest period.
