New Zealand has announced a package of proposals aimed at bringing the country closer to its goal – to ban smoking by 2025.
Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – April 17, 2021 – International News
The government plans to gradually increase the legal age of smoking, which could extend to banning the sale of cigarettes and tobacco products to anyone born after 2004, making smoking virtually illegal for this generation.
Significant reductions in the level of nicotine allowed in tobacco products, the banning of filters, the setting of a minimum price for tobacco, and the restriction of tobacco and cigarette outlets were also considered.
Deputy Health Minister Dr. Ayesha Verrall said about 4,500 New Zealanders die from tobacco each year.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has increased penalties for selling e-cigarettes to children. The Cabinet of Ministers presented a draft law aimed at reducing the harm from smoking.
