A strong wind during a storm in the Chinese city of Nantong killed 11 people and injured more than 100.

Strong winds during the storm caused the collapse of buildings, trees and carried people into the river. Unusual extreme weather hit the Yangtze Delta late in the evening of April 30, and Nantong was one of the worst affected cities.
As of 8 a.m. Saturday, extreme weather had affected 13,688 people in several cities in Jiangsu province, causing direct economic damage of more than 16.4 million yuan. 3,050 people were evacuated as a result of the destruction of their homes or significant damage.
Due to the strong wind, the fishing boat capsized, as a result of which 11 fell into the water. Among the sailors, two were rescued, nine are still in search.
Extreme weather has also affected neighboring cities, including Shaoxing and Hangzhou in the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang. On Friday afternoon, Shanghai issued warnings of wind, thunderstorms, and hail to remind people to avoid being outdoors during extreme weather.
