Kenyan authorities are conducting the first-ever national wildlife census at the Shimba Hills National Reserve.
Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – May 8, 2021 – Reports
Kenya’s Wildlife Service (KWS) said the national wildlife census aims to find out the total number of wildlife and how it is distributed.
The task is also to “identify trends in wildlife populations over time and identify threats to wildlife conservation.”
KWS and the Institute for Wildlife Research and Training, an independent organization that conducts research in the field of wildlife protection and management, will be involved.
The Wildlife Service manages 55 parks, reserves, and sanctuaries. Illegal poaching has reduced the number of elephants and rhinos due to increased efforts to protect wildlife.
