“A two-party bill on the security of transatlantic communications was presented in the US House of Representatives, which provides, among other things, for a partnership with Ukraine.
The Transatlantic Telecommunications Security Act provides for a coalition of US democratic allies and partners in Central and Eastern Europe to address global telecommunications challenges, including from Russia and China.
The bill also provides assistance to countries such as Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and the Western Balkans in restoring and strengthening telecommunications infrastructure and cross-border communications networks, ”the statement said.
The bill was introduced by Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, co-chair of the Ukrainian Congressional Caucus, and Congressman Adam Kinsinger, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and co-sponsored by 22 congressmen.
The day before, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US House of Representatives approved a resolution enshrining US policy on non-recognition of Russia’s annexation of Crimea. The resolution received congressional support from both the Republican and Democratic parties.
