“The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine strongly condemns the actions of the Belarusian authorities regarding the forced landing of the Ryanair passenger company and the detention of Roman Protasevich, which is another manifestation of the Belarusian government’s attack on the political opposition, freedom of speech, and journalism in Belarus,” the Verkhovna Rada said in a statement.
The Council also calls on the Belarussian authorities to immediately release Roman Protasevich and all political prisoners, to “end the arbitrariness and torture used by the Belarusian security authorities against detained Belarusian citizens” and to guarantee respect for human rights in accordance with international obligations. said in the text of the document.
