The Ministry of Social Policy plans to work with the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to work out a solution to increase the servicemen’s pensions.

“We will work out a solution together with the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, we have 4 options to solve the recalculation of pensions for servicemen. They are expensive, from 40 to 60 billion UAH, and we will need to agree to find a resource,” Lazebna said.
The Minister noted that 0.5 million retired servicemen are waiting for a fair pension.
“If indexation had not been abolished in 2017, servicemen would have already received 30% more,” Lazebna said.
State budget-2021 and pensions
On December 15, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a bill on the state budget of Ukraine for 2021.
On the same day, December 15, 2020, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko, commenting on the question of one of the deputies about the reduction of the Pension Fund’s expenditures by UAH 8 billion in preparation for the second reading of the draft state budget for 2021, said that the 2021 budget has enough funds to pay pensions.
It was planned that the indexation of pensions by 11% will be carried out from March 1. In April, an automatic recalculation of pensions for working pensioners is planned, taking into account the amount of salary and length of service.
Starting from January 1, 2021, Ukraine began to increase pensions for certain categories of pensioners. In particular, pensions increased by UAH 300 to UAH 2,400, the increase applies to those over 65 and with 30 years of service for women and 35 years for men. The increase is due to the growth of the minimum wage in Ukraine, which will be increased for the second time from December 1, 2021 – respectively, then the pensions of this category of retirees will increase again, from 2400 to 2600 UAH.
On January 27, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a bill on the indexation of pensions for all pensioners from 2022, which will be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada.
On February 17, 2021, the Cabinet of Ministers during a meeting approved the budget of the Pension Fund of Ukraine for 2021.
In addition, in 2021, Ukraine will double the minimum pension (by a total of 9.3%) – in line with the growth of the subsistence level for people who have lost their ability to work.
From March 1, 2021, in Ukraine, the planned indexation of pensions, which will be approximately 11%. In addition, Ukrainians over the age of 80 have started receiving a monthly supplement of UAH 500 (if their pension does not reach the average salary in Ukraine, which is taken into account for the calculation of pensions).
From April 1, 2021, in Ukraine, it was planned to recalculate pension payments to working pensioners taking into account the length of service (or length of service and earnings) acquired after March 1, 2019.
From July 1, 2021, pensioners aged 75 to 80 will start receiving a monthly supplement of UAH 400 (similarly, if their pension does not reach the amount of the average salary in Ukraine, which is taken into account for the calculation of pensions).
