A powerful explosion erupted on Sunday morning at a grocery market in the Chinese city of Shiyan (Hubei Province, Central China). At least 11 people were killed and 133 injured, 37 of them in critical condition, according to China Central Television.

According to the previous version, the cause of the explosion could be a gas leak. The blast occurred at about 6:30 a.m. local time in the Zhangwan area. As a result of the explosion, the market building was destroyed, and windows were broken in the surrounding houses.
The blast destroyed about 40 kiosks.
According to eyewitnesses, despite the early hour, at this time there were many buyers in the market, in addition, people had breakfast in nearby diners.
Several blood transfusion stations have started operating in the city. Doctors and the authorities urge citizens to come and donate blood.
The search and rescue operation at the site of the explosion continues.
