The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health should prepare proposals on the feasibility of establishing additional controls and restrictions on migration between Ukraine and countries where the Delta coronavirus strain is spreading rapidly.

According to the press service of the President’s Office, this was discussed during a conference call held at the President’s Office.
The participants of the meeting heard information from the National Academy of Sciences on the spread of strain COVID-19 “Delta”.
According to the NAS, this coronavirus strain is 1.6 times more contagious than the Alpha strain (first detected in the UK), 2.26 times more likely to be hospitalized, and the risk of resuscitation for infection increases 1.45 times.
On May 11, then-Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said that there was a threat of a fourth wave of COVID-19 in Ukraine, which could be caused by an “Indian” strain of coronavirus.
On June 22, incumbent Health Minister Viktor Lyashko explained how Ukraine was preparing for the possible emergence of an “Indian” strain of coronavirus.
Also, as the Minister added, at the same time, everyone who visits Ukraine must provide either a negative PCR test, or a rapid test, or a certificate of a full course of vaccination against coronavirus with vaccines approved for use by the World Health Organization.
