At Kharkiv airport, some passengers could not get on their flight to Turkey because they did not have enough seats on the plane.

One of the injured tourists told about it on Instagram. Her video went viral on social media. It is noted that the carrier, SkyUp, sold 210 tickets for the flight, although there were only 189 seats on board.
According to the girl, it was difficult to get feedback from the carrier.
“The plane has already flown. SkyUp airline. We have been rocking for 40 minutes for sure. The director does not come out to us, no one gives feedback, he says:” Go home. Tickets sold more than there are seats on board. We will solve this issue somehow, but you will not fly, “she said.
People stuck at the airport were asked to fill out applications addressed to a SkyUp representative. They were promised departure for the next flight, first at 8 am and then at 11. The flight at 11, according to the passenger, is already full.
Note that the practice of selling extra tickets in air travel has long been known as overbooking. Carriers sell tickets with the expectation that about 10% of passengers may not show up for the flight.
However, as stated in SkyUp, in this situation there was no overbooking.
“There was an exchange of board for a board with a smaller capacity of seats. Accordingly, all passengers were offered an alternative flight, including departure with a change in Istanbul”.
