Vira Storozhuk has been working as a cleaner at the Stryj Polyclinic for 13 years. The woman says that in addition to her responsibilities, she often has to work as a nurse. She is one of 33 workers to be laid off. The woman did not find a new job.
“They say that we don’t need nurses, and when we have to carry something heavy: closets, chairs, benches, nurses are called. I have to pay for an apartment, I have children, I have a grandson, who should give me money? I’m lonely, ”says the employee.
Workers at the Stryj Polyclinic are being laid off due to a lack of funding. Another reason is that there is too many junior staff.
“We have mostly nurses. Earlier, the nurse was sitting with a doctor at the reception. Now the doctor himself is sitting at the reception. It has its own electronic database and enters all its patients there. Also, we will not need so many nurses in the outpatient department. We leave only office cleaners, and such nurses are not provided for in the NZSU contract, ”said Osyp Begey, director of the Stryj City Hospital.
There are currently 7 hospitals in the Stryi community. Two of them want to unite, so there are too many employees now. Igor Ravlinko, head of the Stryi health department, says that if there are vacancies, they will be offered a job.
“We take everyone, unequivocally, we have written down contact numbers, we will contact them. When the hospital is merged, those employees will be needed, ”says Ihor Ravlinko.
Employees of the clinic were warned about the reduction in two months, as required by law. They will work until the end of July.
