The Ukrainian travel agency Koluar Pokhod has been accused of organizing tourist trips to Abkhazia, a region not controlled by the Georgian government. The Georgian Embassy in Ukraine is extremely dissatisfied with such campaigns.
Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – August 14, 2021 – Tourism and Travel
Friendly relations between Ukraine and Georgia are now at a high level, but there are forces that want to harm them, the diplomatic mission said in response to a request from Radio Svoboda.
“… The Embassy of Georgia in Ukraine expresses an extremely negative attitude in connection with the organization of tours to the occupied territory of Georgia by the Ukrainian travel company” Couloir Hike “, – the letter reads.
In connection with such campaigns, the Georgian side has already appealed to the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“We consider it unacceptable that a travel company in Ukraine organizes tours to the occupied territory of Georgia. We have to investigate the origin and activities of this company,” the embassy said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported that as of August 11, the Georgian authorities did not address the Ukrainian situation due to the fact that the Ukrainian company organized trips to Abkhazia.
We will remind, on August 10 the participant of hostilities, the traveler, and the blogger Valery Markus reported that the “Couloir campaign” organizes campaigns to Abkhazia and mountain tours to the Russian Federation.
The network published a screenshot from the site “Couloir Hike”, which confirms this information.
Later, the “Couloir Hike” claimed that they only advise tourists on hiking in Abkhazia, and hiking is not organized. According to the company, they had “incorrect information” on the site.
It will be recalled that in 1992, Abkhazia decided to secede from Georgia. Because of this, hostilities began.
In 2008, there was a five-day war between Georgia and Russia. After the confrontation, Moscow recognized Abkhazia as “independent.” Most countries, including Ukraine, do not recognize the independence of Abkhazia. The Georgian side believes that Abkhazia was occupied by Russia.
