Five missiles were fired at Afghanistan’s Kabul International Airport but were intercepted by a missile defense system.

As one of the officials told the publication on condition of anonymity, the missiles were launched early Monday morning Kabul time, although it is unclear whether all were shot down by the defense system.
According to the official, initial reports did not indicate any casualties from the United States, but this information may change.
Meanwhile, according to CNN, US President Joe Biden has already been informed about the rocket attack on Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport, said White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki. According to her, the US President was informed that “operations continue uninterruptedly” at the airport, against the background of the approaching date for the withdrawal of all US troops from Afghanistan – August 31.
On Sunday, US forces struck a suicide bomber in Kabul from a drone that was in a car and intended to attack the airport.
A suicide bomber killed dozens of Afghans and 13 U.S. servicemen on Thursday.
On Saturday, US President Joe Biden said the situation on the ground remained extremely dangerous and that his military command had told him that another militant attack was quite likely within the next 24-36 hours.
Concerns are therefore growing that Islamic State militants will continue to attack the airport as US troops rush to evacuate all US citizens and Afghans at risk by 31 August.
In the past, officials warned that ISIS-K militants wanted to fire rockets at the airport. But the United States has experienced countering such missiles, especially in Iraq, and they have already installed missile defense systems. “We know that they (ISIS-K) would like to launch a missile there if they could,” General Frank Mackenzie, head of the US Armed Forces Central Command, told reporters in Washington last week.
