Kyiv received a new 3-section low-floor tram. This is the first of 20 trams to be purchased on credit from the European Investment Bank (EIB) under the initiative of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

Within the framework of the agreement, a loan of EUR 24.9 million will be directed to the renewal of the Kyiv tram fleet. For this money, it is planned to purchase twenty 3-section low-floor trams manufactured by TATRA-YUG LLC. These 26-meter trams can carry about 300 passengers. The carriages provide places for people with disabilities.
The first tram will be located in Darnytskyi depot and after commissioning will go on the route on the left bank of the capital. According to the schedule, the entire party is planned to be delivered by Kyivpastrans by the beginning of 2023.

The loan is part of the EU-supported Urban Public Transport of Ukraine project, which aims to improve public transport infrastructure in Ukrainian cities.

As representatives of the EU’s climate-oriented bank, we believe that developing an efficient urban public transport system is one of the best ways to combat pollution and address climate change,” he said. The EIB Ukraine Public Transport project (Phase 1) is a € 200 million framework loan to finance public transport in 11 Ukrainian cities.
It will also be recalled that as part of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s “Big Construction” program, Ukrzaliznytsia is testing the Stadler FLIRT train to run on the Kyiv suburban route and the city electric train. The first trains are planned to be launched on the routes of the Kyiv junction by the end of 2022.
