Every tourist who came to the capital of Austria considers it his duty to go to a cafe to taste a favorite local delicacy – apple strudel, which is called nothing more than Viennese strudel. It is rumored that at one time brides in Vienna were chosen for their ability to cook it.

Having tried a real strudel at least once, you can not help but appreciate it, because it is extremely thin, like tissue paper, brittle dough, and a lot of fragrant and delicious fillings.
Ingredients:
for the dough:
250 g of flour
100 ml of water
1 egg
oil
salt
For the filling:
1 kg of apples
150 g of sugar
100 g of butter rusks
100 g of raisins
100 g of peeled walnuts
2 tablespoons dark rum
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons butter
0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons powdered sugar for sprinkling

butter for lubrication
Preparation:
Sift the flour on the work surface with a slide, make a depression in the center, pour warm water and 1.5 tablespoons of oil, beat the egg, salt, and knead the dough. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic and stops sticking to your hands, which will take 10-15 minutes.
Download the finished dough into a ball, grease with oil, wrap with cling film, and put for 30-40 minutes in a warm place.
Boil raisins, drain, pour rum, and leave for half an hour. Fry the breadcrumbs in butter until golden. Chop the nuts. Cut apples into small cubes sprinkle with lemon juice, season with cinnamon, and mix.
On a spread out and dusted with a linen towel or oilcloth, first, if possible, gently roll out the dough, and then stretch from the center to the edges, placing the bottom of the palm, to a translucent state.
Grease a rectangular layer of dough with melted butter. Stepping back 2-3 cm from the long edge, layout fried crackers along with it, apples on them, sprinkle with raisins, nuts and sugar, download a roll with a towel, lay it seam down on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and grease with melted butter.
Bake for about 40-45 minutes at 180 ° C, removing the strudel several times and lubricating it with butter.
Sprinkle the surface of the slightly cooled strudel with icing sugar.
On a side note:
Serve the strudel warm with a scoop of ice cream.
