“Today, the resignation of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers Guido Bellido Ugarte was accepted, whom I thank for his service to the state. I would like to inform you that the new Cabinet of Ministers will take the oath today at 8 pm (4:00 am Thursday, Kyiv time), ”the Peruvian leader told the nation.
As Castillo explained, this decision was made in the interests of “increasing controllability” and in order to preserve the “balance between power.” He also called on the country’s political forces to abandon ideological differences in favor of the interests of the state.
Castillo took office in late July, defeating Keiko Fujimori, the daughter of former dictator Alberto Fujimori, by a narrow margin in the second round of the presidential election. The composition of Castillo’s government was approved by parliament in late August.
