Kyiv.Ukraine.Ukraine Gate – November 3,2021- The Verkhovna Rada has approved Ukraine’s transition to European Gas Accounting Standards. Natural gas will be calculated in energy units rather than cubic metres.
The relevant bill No. 2553 was supported by 250 deputies in an extraordinary session held on 2 November
The explanatory note to the document states that there are different approaches to measuring natural gas in Ukraine and the European Union. We keep records in cubic meters, they – in power units.
As a result, there are administrative difficulties while registering natural gas imported from the European Union or injecting it into gas storage facilities in the customs warehouse system.
The calculation of natural gas in energy units is more objective and also ensures fair and equitable pricing. In addition, it facilitates the compilation of the energy balance of enterprises.
The calculation of gas volumes in power units is used almost all over the world.
