Nariman Osmanov is a former prisoner of the colony in Pokrov, where he was serving his sentence together with Russian politician Alexei Navalny. Osmanov was one of the first to report for the Russian TV channel Dozhd that a special unit had been set up for Navalny in the colony, and prisoners had been forced to mock him by frying food while on hunger strike and ignoring it.

Navalny became ill on August 20, 2020 during a flight from Tomsk to Moscow. The plane made an emergency landing at Omsk airport. The oppositionist was hospitalized in a coma in the intensive care unit of Omsk hospital. On August 22, by the decision of the Navalny family, he underwent treatment at the Charite clinic in Berlin, and then the rehabilitation process in Germany.
Russian doctors have established that a possible cause of Navalny’s condition was a violation of carbohydrate metabolism with exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis with a violation of external and intrasectoral function. No poisonous substances were found in the body of the oppositionist by Russian specialists.
On October 6, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons reported that Navalny had been poisoned with a type of neuroparalytic substance, Novachok, which is not listed in the chemical annex to the Chemical Weapons Convention. Navalny’s family and associates insist on the version of the poisoning of the oppositionist and the involvement of the Russian authorities in it – the authorities reject this.
After arriving home on January 17, Navalny was arrested for evading appearing in the penitentiary inspection as a probation officer. On February 2, the Simonovsky court in Moscow replaced his suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case with a real one – 3.5 years in prison. The oppositionist is currently in prison.
