The SPAR supermarket chain in the UK has been hit hard by cyber attacks, forcing more than 300 stores across the country to close.

According to a spokesman for the network, some stores were able to avoid closing by switching to cash.
He also added that the cyberattack affected all of the company’s IT systems and left staff without access to e-mail.
“Currently, the cyber attack is affecting the ability of stores to process card payments, meaning that some SPAR stores are currently closed to customers or only accept cash payments,” the company said.
A spokesman for the UK’s National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) confirmed that the Agency was aware of the situation with the cyber attack on SPAR.
