On the morning of January 3, the snow avalanche station Pozhezhevskaya at the foot of Mount Pezhizhevskaya, near the highest peak of the Hoverla Carpathians, is 0.2 degrees, there is snow, but not fresh. The height of the snow cover is 49-150 cm, which is less than a few days ago.
In the area of the Play station on the Borzhava meadow in Transcarpathia it was 37-66 cm, here 0.4 °. The snow here also decreased.
And at the avalanche post Dragobrat in Transcarpathia the air temperature is 0.6 °. The height of the snow cover here reaches 178 cm, also decreased in a few days.
On Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirsky – one of the highest peaks of the Ukrainian Carpathians on the border of Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia regions – it is also snowy, visibility is limited to 30 m, air temperature -5 °, according to the local rescue post.

Significant avalanche danger (level 3), due to thawing, is expected on January 3-4 in the highlands of Zakarpattia region, in the mountains of Ivano-Frankivsk region. “Avalanches are possible at low additional loads, some natural medium and large avalanches. We strongly advise you to refrain from hiking in the highlands,” said experts.
Moderate avalanche danger (level 2), due to rains and snowmelt, is expected on January 3-4 – in the mountains of Chernivtsi region, January 3-5 – in the middle mountains of Lviv region.
