Three avalanches hit the Carpathians at once .
In the Carpathians, three avalanches descended from Mount Play at the beginning of the year. This was reported by the Department of Hydrological Forecasts of the Ukrainian Meteorological Center,

It is reported that the avalanche patrol revealed the ascent of three avalanches of wet snow from Mount Play:
- from the north-eastern exposition, separation height – 1250 m above sea level, volume 7000 cubic meters;
- from the southern exposition, separation height – 1100 m above sea level, volume 320 cubic meters;
- from the northern exposition, height of separation – 1050 m above sea level, volume 225 cubic meters.
Approximate date of ascent – January 2-4. According to the Hydrological Forecasting Department, no damage was caused by the avalanches.

At the beginning of January this year, the Ukrainian Carpathians were covered with snow, in some places the height of the snow cover reached 178 centimeters. Experts advise to avoid hiking because of the threat of avalanches.
Significant avalanche danger (level 3), due to thawing, was expected on January 3-4 in the highlands of Zakarpattia region, in the mountains of Ivano-Frankivsk region.
