Kyiv.Ukraine.Ukraine Gate – January 27,2022- The press service of the President of Ukraine announced That President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and the European Neighborhood Policy Oliver Varheli energy security measures in Ukraine and the EU countries.
The President also highly rated the results of the December Eastern Partnership Summit in Brussels, in particular the adoption of the ambitious economic and investment plan for partner countries. It should be noted that the mentioned plan provides funding for the implementation of reforms in a number of important areas through the allocation of funds for the implementation of specific projects.
In this regard, the President of Ukraine noted that ensuring energy efficiency is one of the top priorities for Ukraine, since our country will start a program “Big thermal modernization” in 2022, which will allow to upgrade high-rise buildings, schools and hospitals as a whole to winterize the country.
“Despite the current security challenges, Ukraine continues to implement important economic projects. Therefore, the EU’s decision to allocate almost EUR 2 billion for the implementation of investment projects in Ukraine is a concrete expression of support from our European partners. In addition to the previously made decision of the European Commission to provide macro-financial assistance in the amount of 1.2 billion euros, this is an important contribution to the stable development of the Ukrainian economy,” emphasized Zelenskyy.
The President thanked the European Union for its firm support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state and called for the preservation of the unity of all EU Member States in these difficult conditions.
EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy, Olivér Várhelyi, is on a working visit to Ukraine on 26-27 January.
