The Verkhovna Rada registered a bill №6558, according to which a mandatory test for alcohol or drug intoxication of road accident participants with injuries or deaths will be introduced.

The draft law amends the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (KUpAP) and the Criminal Procedure Code, which require an alcohol and drug test in the event of an accident with victims. Currently, such an inspection is being carried out by the police.
In particular, part 1 of Art. 266 of the Code of Administrative Offenses are planned to be supplemented with the following proposal: under the influence of drugs that reduce their attention and speed of reaction, it is necessary, regardless of the grounds to believe that such persons are in the specified state or under the influence of these drugs. “
Changes in Art. 214 and 298-2 of the Criminal Procedure Code oblige a person who has committed an accident, where there are dead or injured with moderate or severe injuries, to conduct a mandatory medical examination for alcohol and drugs.
The bill also amends Art. 10 of the Law “On Emergency Medical Care”, which will allow testing for drugs and alcohol in emergency departments of hospitals.
