In the mid-80’s of the last century, the “cold diet” was very popular (especially among ballerinas and models). Its rules required eating cold, sometimes even ice-cold. The “cold diet” promised rapid weight loss, as the body spends energy not only on digesting food, but also on warming it. In fact, such a diet will help to get dysbacteriosis and serious problems with the gastrointestinal tract faster than to lose weight.
First of all, you should give up cold protein foods (yes, cold salads with salmon or chicken fillet should not be eaten either). Cold food passes faster through the gastrointestinal tract, does not stay long enough in the stomach. As a result, proteins do not have time to break down into amino acids and enter the intestine in undigested form. How dangerous is it? In the best case – heaviness in the stomach, in the worst – the development of dysbacteriosis, metabolic disorders and even serious diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
Any food that is prepared using oil, butter – cereals, meat or vegetables should also be eaten warm. In the cold form, fats are broken down worse, there is discomfort and heaviness in the abdomen. In general, nutritionists recommend eating cooked food warm. That is, you should not only heat fresh vegetables and fruits that you eat raw (but it is better to get them out of the refrigerator 30-40 minutes before eating so that they warm up to room temperature).
The exception to this rule is potatoes. During its preparation, complex reactions with starch take place, which are completed only after its cooling.
Another rule to remember – do not mix hot food with cold. This combination prevents you from feeling full in time and carries a serious risk of overeating. This is often used by fast food restaurants: drinking a hot burger or potatoes with iced soda water, you can eat much more than you should, because the feeling of satiety appears much later.
