The cost of borscht in Ukraine for the year increased by almost a third – experts
During the year, the cost of borscht in Ukraine increased by more than 30%. This is evidenced by a recent “borsch index” from BRDO experts .

“UAH 80.92 – that’s how much a portion of borscht for four people prepared according to a traditional recipe will cost in February 2022. Compared to February 2021 – UAH 62.06 – the price has increased by more than 30%,” experts said.

All borscht ingredients for the year, as noted, rose in price to varying degrees: from a slight 5% to a significant 284.4%.
Vegetable prices rose the most. Compared to February 2021, the prices of beets and carrots have more than doubled and the price of cabbage has almost quadrupled.
The only vegetable whose price has risen insignificantly is potatoes (+ 5.05%). Pork (+ 12.03%) and sour cream (+ 8.78%) also did not rise in price critically.
Addition
In the consumer market in January, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 2.5% (14% year on year). Vegetables became more expensive the most (by 20.5%) during the month.
