The fact that sauerkraut helps to lose weight, according to a recent study by Korean scientists. The experiment involved more than 20 people who, in addition to following a low-calorie diet, regularly ate fresh and pickled cabbage. As a result, the group of participants who ate fermented cabbage lost more pounds and inches at the waist than subjects who ate fresh vegetables. Sauerkraut also had a positive effect on the participants’ blood pressure.
Scientists claim that it’s all about probiotics (“friendly” microorganisms that have a positive effect on intestinal function), which are rich in fermented food. They reduce the amount of fat that enters the body with other foods. In addition, sauerkraut is rich in fiber, which also helps to lose weight.
“Sauerkraut is a fermented product filled with useful probiotics, tasty, cheap and very easy to prepare,” – says the expert on weight loss. He himself regularly eats pickled red cabbage, prepared according to his author’s recipe, which he willingly shares with his readers (and we – with you).
Ingredients
1 medium head of red cabbage;
2 red or white bulbs;
a little fresh fennel;
1 teaspoon coriander seeds;
1 teaspoon black pepper peas;
1.5 tablespoons of salt;
2 tablespoons filtered water.
Method of cooking
- Finely chop the cabbage, onion and fennel and place in a large bowl.
- Add coriander seeds, black pepper and salt.
- Stir the cabbage with your hands for a few minutes, then allow the dish to infuse (30 minutes to an hour).
- Transfer the cabbage to an airtight jar, add a couple of tablespoons of water and close tightly with a lid.
- Leave the cabbage in a moderately cool place (up to 18-20 ° C) for 7 to 10 days. During this time, periodically open the jar and release the gas, pressing the cabbage tightly on top .
