European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said today in Brussels during a joint press conference with Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi.
Ursula von der Leyen said, “We intend to discuss the situation in Ukraine, the deadly war that Putin is waging, and we will discuss a new improved package (sanctions), which is currently being worked on, and that the European Union has three sets of severe sanctions, but now we have to make sure that there are no exceptions and that The effect of these sanctions is maximum.”
At the same time, the President of the European Commission noted that the sanctions already imposed by the European Union are effective and are already leading to deep disruption in the Russian economy.
“Given the evolving situation in Ukraine, the Kremlin’s insane attacks on its citizens – women, children and men – we are certainly also working on further sanctions to stop this,” added Ursula von der Leyen.
