The Ukrainian General Staff said on Friday that Russian forces had completed their withdrawal from the Sumy region in northern Ukraine, with the build-up of forces continuing in the east of the country.
“The Russian invaders have completely withdrawn their forces from the Sumy region to the Russian Federation,” a statement from the General Staff said on Facebook.
The Russian military announced earlier its withdrawal from northern Ukraine and around Kyiv to focus efforts in the eastern Donbass region.
The statement of the General Staff also indicated that the Russian forces continued their build-up in the southern Zaporizhzhya regions and eastern Donetsk, and continued their offensive in the direction of Popasna and Severodonetsk, in the eastern Luhansk region.
