“In order to ensure the safety of parishioners and clergy, especially in areas close to the front, it is blessed to set the time for the beginning of Holy Week services (especially Holy Thursday and the Shroud Funeral on Friday) and Easter so that their beginning and end do not fall on curfew period. Additional time should also be taken into account for parishioners and clergy on the way to and from the church (approximately one hour before and after the service, depending on the size of the settlement), “the PCU press service said.

In this regard, according to the PCU, it is allowed to start the Easter service not at midnight, but on Sunday morning , after the curfew.
In monasteries that have a closed area and access to which will be limited during the curfew, services are held in accordance with the decision of the leadership of the monastery, taking into account the general rules.
It is also reported that in areas where there is no increased danger due to hostilities and shelling by Russian troops, the clergy may ask local authorities to clarify the possibility of changing the curfew on Easter night and decide on the schedule of services in compliance with such a regime.
These norms also apply to the organization of the consecration of Easter meals, according to the PCU.

The day before, the PCU explained why “not celebrating Easter with Moscow” will not work. In particular, the Ecumenical Patriarchate and all Local Orthodox Churches celebrate Easter and all related holidays according to a single calendar .
